Frequently Asked Questions

Core Service and Scope

Does LDN Consulting provide exams for both Fire and EMS agencies?
Yes. While we were founded on a Fire Service background, our library, expertise, and services are fully expanded to cover all ranks and positions across both Fire and Emergency Medical Services administration. Our testing modules integrate seamlessly with the unique protocols of combined and stand-alone agencies nationwide.
How much notice is required to prepare a custom exam?
We typically require a minimum of 30-60 days' notice. This timeline allows us to meticulously customize the exam, secure source materials, and—most importantly—provides you with time for a recommended review. This crucial step ensures the exam aligns perfectly with your department’s SOPs and local rules.

Budget

What is the cost for a new custom exam?
Our pricing is transparent and designed for budget predictability. The cost for a new 100-question custom exam, based on your selected sources, is a one-time fee of $2,500.00 (average rate). We offer discounted rates for re-offering a previous exam with similar content.

Validity and Compliance

What is your process for designing a legally defensible test?
We design every exam to fit your City/Department’s exact specifications. This requires a formal list of Source Materials, the Number and Type of Questions requested from each source, and a Review Date. We ensure the questions are aligned with your Civil Service rules and organizational materials (SOPs, Regulations).
Do you use test banks or generic question generators?
No. Unlike vendors who rely on large, generic question banks, all LDN Consulting content is 100% original and custom-written by public safety experts based specifically on your required source materials.
What if a test question is appealed?
Our Founder, Len Nored, has 28 years of Civil Service experience and is exceptionally familiar with the appeals process. If a question is appealed, we will provide a comprehensive written statement detailing the validity and correctness based on the referenced source. This is a critical assurance for administrators.
